A former Chairman of the People Democratic Party, PDP in Taraba State Colonel Agbu Kefas, has won the Party’s gubernatorial ticket to contest in the 2023 general election.
Mr. Kefas who had recently resigned his position as the party Chairman in the state, polled a total votes of 443, while the runner Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini, polled 31 votes.
Other aspirants are: Professor Jerome Nyame, 24 votes, Joel Ikenya, 11 votes, Buba Joda Mafindi, 6 votes
In his remarks, Mr. Kefas said, his administration would work with youth and give 100% development to Taraba State if elected in the 2023 general election.
“We have done so much and there is more to be done to better the lots of our people and our dear state. We have built a trusting relationship with the electorates, majority of whom are the masses where our support is derived because our party needs to continue on the path of victory,” Kefas said.
He said, “After a very wide consultation within our great party PDP and outside, within the state and outside, with my family, friends, associates and leaders, I wish to formally inform you that I have accepted to offer myself to carry flag in the 2023 governorship election.
“I believe you can trust me as I’ve done my best before as party state chairman.
On his part, the Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku commended the party executive for conducting a rancho free primaries which produces Mr. Agbu Kefas as the winner.
He called on other aspirants who lost out of the primaries to rally round the party to win the polls at general election, stressing the contest has just began.
