The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, says the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Bola Tinubu, will win the 2023 election by 60 percent.

Mr. Okechukwu stated this while speaking to journalists in Abuja.

VON DG, who assessed Mr. Tinubu’s capacity, said that because APC controls 22 states, Mr. Tinubu has a better chance of winning.

“Asiwaju has 60% of winning this election. APC is already in charge of 22 states of the federation. They have the majority in the National and State House of Assembly and won’t betray him.

“Even in the South/East, that has never been our stronghold on the day of election. We are going there to protect our mandate,” he said.

Mr. Okechukwu, speaking of the importance of rotation and balance of power for the unity of Nigeria, mentioned his desire for Mr. Tinubu to pick a Northern Christian as a running mate.

“The last I heard from our presidential candidate, Mr. Tinubu, is that he is still searching, and luckily, he has a wide variety of searches.

“From River Benue to the last point in Jibia, Dutse, Lake Chad’s boundary. So, if you are searching in a wide area with over 100 people with about 44 million voters who might get up to 50 million, you have a wide range of areas to search.

Luckily for us, many people will not know that even in Kebbi, Sokoto, there are Christians. Even in Borno, there are Christians. He has a wide range of areas to look for Christians,” Okechukwu said.

Speaking about the opposition parties and their candidates, VON DG said their disregard for power rotation would work against them.
“You may not take it seriously, but if you know the sense of belonging rotation brings to north and south, you can’t just dismiss it; APC obeyed it.

“Other parties don’t believe in rotation convention. For them, the agitation or the glue and the bound that rotation created since independence isn’t relevant to the party’s success.

“This rotation may not have its legal teeth, but rotation is a convention. It has its moral angle,” Okechukwu said.
