2023: VP Osinbajo seeks Osun State’s delegates support

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo said he is the most qualified aspirant among those jostling to succeed President Muhammad Buhari in 2023.

He said he remains the most experienced and well prepared to be the next Nigerian president.

Osinbajo spoke at the traditional ruler’s palace, the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Larooye and at the Government House to woo the delegates to the National Convention. The visit is in continuation of his consultation with stakeholders and the All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates across the country ahead of the party primary.

While speaking with the monarch, Oba Jimoh Larooye, the VP noted that his aspiration was necessitated by his commitment to offering himself for service to the people and the nation.

He stressed that his position as the Vice President and his intervention as the Acting President has exposed him to the challenge which will make him reposition the country on the path of development. 

“I have come to speak with the members of APC in the state ahead of the presidential election. As a presidential aspirant in APC, I have come to meet with the delegates who will be voting at the forthcoming National Convention of the party. I’ve been to various states and Osun is important.

“I have served in government for seven years, as vice president and an Acting President. I have the needed experience and the capability to lead the country. There is no part of Nigerian governance that I don’t understand.

“Kabiyesi, I am here to pay homage first, and to speak to the party delegates. My coming to Osogbo is very important, our people need someone capable.”

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun described the Vice President as a very intelligent personality who has performed tremendously well as Acting President.

“As someone who knows much about the governance and happenings in the government circle, you have performed tremendously well. I am the king and the two aspirants have come to me for Royal blessings which will be done accordingly.

The Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi who represented Governor Gboyega Oyetola welcomed the Vice President on behalf of the party members.

Governor Adeboyega was out of the state on an official engagement.
