A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders across Kano State in northwest Nigeria has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, signalling growing northern support for his re-election bid.
The endorsement followed a three-day consultative meeting involving leaders from all 44 local government areas and 484 wards of the state.
The deliberations were led by former APC National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, who stated that the objective was to consolidate unity within the party and reaffirm Kano’s commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr Ganduje noted that the consultations focused on strengthening internal cohesion ahead of 2027, ensuring party structures remain active at the grassroots, and mobilising full support for the Tinubu administration.
According to him, APC stakeholders in Kano have resolved to work toward sweeping all elective positions in the state in 2027 and delivering overwhelming votes for President Tinubu across the North and the entire country.
He said party executives at all levels have been instructed to ensure that ward and local government offices remain fully operational to accommodate new members, especially as the party intensifies efforts to attract defectors and strengthen its numerical strength.
On the party’s ongoing e-registration drive, Ganduje disclosed that APC structures in Kano have already acquired the necessary equipment to begin digital membership updates.
He recalled that Kano previously recorded the highest number of registered members nationwide and expressed confidence that the state would maintain that position.
Dr Ganduje also urged eligible residents to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), emphasising that electoral participation remains crucial to consolidating the party’s gains ahead of 2027.
