With barely two years to the 2027 General election in Nigeria, the New Nigeria People’s Part, NNPP and the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kano State have begun trading words over Political Party control and influence.

Being the most populous in the North West region, Kano State has been a political boiling point and interest of all Presidential Candidates.

The 2023 presidential candidate of NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, in an engagement with some stakeholders vowed that, his party would work tirelessly to ensure that the APC loses the state entirely.

Kwankwaso who acknowledged the hard work of NNPP in the 2023 elections, noted that, the successes were recorded despite being a new political platform which had late preparations.

“Now, it’s time to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano by 2027,” he said.

Kwankwaso stressed the need for dedication and grassroots mobilisation to solidify the NNPP’s position as a dominant political force in Kano and beyond.

He encouraged his supporters to remain focused on delivering results that would secure the party’s success in future elections.

APC Reaction

In a swift reaction, the Kano State chapter of the APC also vowed to beat NNPP in the 2027 general election in the state.

The Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas urged Kwankwaso to channel his energy towards preparing to what he called “the looming defeat”.

“Our teeming supporters in the APC have no cause to worry,” he added.
