A political group, Alliance for Good Governance, has declared support for the efforts by opposition parties in Gombe State to form a coalition, aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 elections.

The opposition parties, comprises the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, and the Social Democratic Party SDP.

They convened a few days ago to deliberate on forming a grand coalition to unseat the APC in the upcoming elections.

The meeting was convened by Mr. Mohammed Barde, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Gombe State election.

Speaking at the gathering in Gombe, which drew hundreds of youths, the Coordinator of the Alliance for Good Governance and Convener of the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Usman Haruna, said they had come together to express their support for the coalition initiative by the opposition parties in the state.m

According to Mr. Haruna, the coalition is essential to bringing about a change of government, lamenting the hardship being endured by residents of the state and Nigerians in general under the APC-led administration.

“We are here to declare our support for what we see as a viable alternative through the movement for coalition politics in Nigeria. A coalition is clearly the way forward. If the APC remains in power, then what is needed is a strong alternative political force to remove them from office,” he stated.

Mr. Haruna also urged stakeholders to increase political awareness and engagement within their communities in preparation for the 2027 general election.
