A driver working with an elderly couple in Abuja, Mr Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79 has been arrested over their gruesome murder in their residence at Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja on April 1st, 2024.
Commissioner of Police in the Territory C.P Benneth Igweh made this known while Parading suspected killers in the case of double homicide which occurred at Zone D, 1st gate, Apo Legislative Quarters on April 1, 2024.
CP Igweh said the suspects confessed to killing the 80-year-old couple because they promised him money and failed to give him.
The commissioner said the suspect was arrested in Obajana, Kogi State after he slaughtered the couple, withdrew N200,000 from their account and ran away.
Investigations also revealed that Marcus was the driver to the couple before deciding to kill them.
Recall that FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, while confirming the murder then, said, “The incident occurred on the 1st of April at about 10 pm.”
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer further explained that “following a distress call by the estate manager of Zone D, 1st gate, Apo Legislative Quarters to Apo Divisional Police Headquarters one Seun Ezekiel, called to report that his parents, who reside in the estate are not responding to their calls and with his permission, they brought down the window protector of the kitchen to gain access into the house.
“They discovered the bodies of Seun’s parents: Adebola Ezekiel and Abiodun Ezekiel in the pool of their blood, with their throats slit by yet-to-be-identified persons.”
While the investigation is still ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the Territory.
