3MTT Networking Meetup Sets New Standards In Anambra State

The 3million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, a Federal Government program aimed at empowering Nigerian youths with tech skills, has set new standards in networking meetups in Anambra State, south east Nigeria.

The event was hosted by 3MTT Anambra State Community Manager, Somto Akujuruobi, at the IDK Learning Centre in Awka, the state capital.

The Community Manager for 3MTT in Anambra State, Somto Akujuruobi, expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his Renewed Hope Agenda, and to Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, for his efforts in fostering a digital transformation in Anambra.

Somto Akujuruobi also lauded the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for spearheading the 3MTT initiative, along with IHS Tower and NITDA for their significant support in fostering the initiative’s goals in Nigeria.

According to Akujuruobi, “The essence of this meetup is for fellows under 3MTT Anambra Community to network, collaborate and gain insights into the tech career they have ventured into.

“Our first graduated cohort was admonished to take note of the insights that will be shared by the speakers in order to get a sense of direction on how to thrive in their tech career. Other cohorts were encouraged to take the opportunity they have to learn seriously in order to create the world they deserve for themselves.”

In his own remarks, the spiritual father of the day, Bishop Amb. Alex Okedo of Living Epistles Global Family, who graced the event, emphasized the importance of integrity in the tech industry.

Speaking on the ‘Power of Purpose and Dedication’, Bishop Okedo called on the participants to be motivated by a clear purpose and strive for continuous improvement over time.

He urged them to view mentorship as an investment, an opportunity for significant advancement that requires commitment and dedication.

“Work ethic makes the difference, identify what others are not doing and excel in that area. Package your unique skills and offerings. Success requires management, never be satisfied. There is no “overload” on the path to fulfilling your destiny, continuous improvement is key.”

A highlight of the event was the keynote speech delivered by Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, MD/CEO of Anambra State Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Agency, represented by Mr. Castro Ideke, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on MDAs Support.

Agbata emphasized the transformative power of technology and the need for continuous learning and adaptability in the dynamic field of tech.

“The path may not be easy but I assure you it will be a success. Let us seek knowledge relentlessly and believe in our ability to make a difference. This future is not just happening, it is ours to create.” Agbata concluded.

Earlier, the Special guest, Dr Nelson Omenugha, special adviser to governor Soludo on youth empowerment, appreciated the federal government and Anambra state government for implementing the programme through the 3MTT community manager, Anambra State, Somto Akujuruobi. He also lauded and encouraged the participants to utilise all they learnt to uplift the state and the nation.

Favour Emelie, (IT-cum Business Consultant), who spoke on ‘Continuous Learning and Skill Development’, said, “Technology is always changing and committed to lifelong learning. Stay updated on the latest trend, tools and technique in your field. Sometimes, browse future trends in your field.”

Ifechukwu Okoye, Community Lead, Code Africa Anambra spoke on ‘Growing a Tech Career’.

She said, “It is easy to excel in the Tech world today. Carve a niche and invest in personal branding: for newbies take it one social media at a time, skill up to increase your employability and market value.”

Okoye further called on the participants to always ask questions, reach out to senior practitioners and get a mentor to avoid mental breakdown whenever they encounter career or skill challenges.

Attendees were inspired by success stories shared by cohort 1 fellows of 3MTT Anambra community in LM tech Hub, who emphasized the importance of goal-setting and continuous learning in achieving success. Another beneficiary from cohort 1 highlighted the significance of collaboration and mentorship in navigating the tech industry.

The event concluded with a sense of optimism and anticipation for future collaborations and shared successes, with a commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation, the 3MTT Networking Meetup in Anambra set new standards for empowering tech skills and driving positive change in Nigeria’s digital landscape.
