President Xi Jinping of China has formally opened the 3rd forum of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Beijing, the Chinese capital.
The opening ceremony, which started at 10:00 hours local time, is taking place at The Great Hall of the People, Beijing.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is representing President Bola Tinubu at the event.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin is also in attendance.
In his opening remarks, President Xi Jinping said the Belt and Road Initiative aims at enhancing connectivity for peaceful cooperation globally.
He announced the various plans that China has in place for the expansion of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Nigeria will at the end of the opening ceremony hold bilateral talks that will lead to the signing of agreements that will boost the country’s trade and investment fortunes.
