3SC debunks claim of barring journalists from home matches
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has denied a report that it has barred journalists from covering home matches at the Lekan Salami stadium, Ibadan.
Tosin Omojola, media officer of 3SC, made this known in a statement released Monday.
3SC will face Katsina United in Ibadan in a must-win home encounter.
In his statement, the 3SC image maker insisted that journalists, especially members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo state branch would always have full access to the home ground of the club.
“All genuine members of SWAN should ignore false claims that the management of 3SC plans to bar journalists from covering home games of the team,” Omojola said.
“You will note, that during the first match against Akwa United, every sports journalist who showed up to cover the game, gained entry without stress.
Omojola urged fans to support the team throughout the season while at the same time assuring members the press that the club remains a credible partner.
“The management of this club, is a friend of the media and will never take any step that will hinder members of the fourth estate of the realm from doing their job.
“Once again, I implore you to please, ignore any information that does not come directly from the club, get to the stadium, make contact with the leadership of the association (SWAN), present your identity card, get your pass, go in and do your job accordingly,” he added.
With two points from three matches, the home game represents an opportunity to make a push for a top finish at the end of the season.
The Oluyole Warriors returned to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and have played three matches so far,
They played a 1-1 draw with Akwa United in Ibadan, drew 0-0 away to Gombe United, and fell 2-1 to Lobi Stars in Makurdi.
