The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 6 Brigade Chapter joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, with a call to accelerate action for women’s empowerment

The event, held in Jalingo on March 8, 2025, featured an awareness walk, seminar session, and empowerment initiative

In her welcome address, NAOWA 6 Brigade Zonal Coordinator, Rachael Uwa, highlighted the importance of accelerating action for women’s empowerment.

She noted that while progress has been made, much remains to be done to break barriers that hinder women’s full participation in social, economic, and political spheres.

The highpoint of the event in a statement by the spokesperson of the Brigade Captain Oni Olubodunde was the empowerment initiative, where cash donations were presented to barracks women and female youth corps members to expand their existing businesses.

This initiative aligns with NAOWA’s ongoing efforts to foster economic independence and financial sustainability among women within the military community.

Renowned female advocacy lawyer, Barrister Shallom Maijankai, delivered a compelling lecture on “Accelerate Action for Women.”

She stressed that gender equality is not a competition between men and women but a shared vision for a more inclusive society.

The NAOWA 6 Brigade Chapter remains committed to empowering women and ensuring that the momentum gained from this year’s International Women’s Day celebration translates into real progress for women within and beyond the barracks community.
