Cutix PLC, the renowned cable and wire manufacturing company headquartered in Nnewi, Anambra State has officially become the principal sponsor of Onye Afia Season 2, the flagship talk show on Afia TV dedicated to celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo people.
The unveiling ceremony, held at Cutix PLC’s corporate headquarters, brought together prominent dignitaries including Ambassador Odi Nwosu, Co-founder of Cutix PLC; Mrs. Ijeoma Oduonye, CEO of Cutix PLC; Chief Emeka Mba, Managing Director and CEO of Afia TV; Vera Chidimma Okoh, Brand Manager of Afia TV; and Odera Collins, the anchor for Onye Afia Season 2.
Chief Emeka Mba described Onye Afia as more than a television show—it is a vibrant movement that explores authentic stories of ambition, innovation, and resilience among Igbo entrepreneurs. “The show offers a 30-minute weekday platform that challenges prevailing stereotypes and redefines what success means for the Igbo in today’s economy. Through candid conversations with legacy builders and emerging disruptors, we promote Igbo pride and provide a blueprint for generational impact,” he said.
Season 2 is set to premiere on July 7 and will air daily across Afia TV, DSTV Channel 254, GOTV Channel 17, and Free TV Channel 748.
Ambassador Odi Nwosu, former Nigerian Ambassador to Burundi addressed concerns about security in the Southeast, vehemently disputing the region’s negative portrayal. “The Southeast remains one of the safest zones in Nigeria,” he asserted.
“Security agencies and community stakeholders are actively collaborating to combat crime, making the region highly secure and friendly for habitation and investment.” Nwosu emphasized that the partnership with Afia TV and Onye Afia will showcase the untapped ingenuity, entrepreneurial brilliance, and positive stories of the Igbo people to a broader audience.
Mrs. Ijeoma Oduonye likened the sponsorship partnership between Cutix PLC and Afia TV to a marriage destined for mutual growth. “Cutix has been at the forefront of cable manufacturing for 40 years, driven by innovation and exceptional product standards. Our support of Onye Afia reflects our commitment to promoting Igbo entrepreneurial spirit and the economic development of the Southeast,” she noted.
Anchor Odera Collins highlighted the show’s role in amplifying grassroots voices. “Onye Afia gives a platform to business personalities and everyday innovators to share their talents and stories, providing a comprehensive view of what it means to be Igbo today. We aim to counter negative stereotypes by telling our own stories of success and resilience.”
The partnership also aims to broaden Cutix PLC’s reach through Afia TV’s extensive multi-platform presence, including social media, radio, television, and outdoor advertising. Chief Emeka Mba expressed optimism about future collaborations, affirming that Afia TV would act as the “Chief Market Officer” for the Southeast, championing regional development.
The event also featured contributions from Ada Ikebuilo, Head of Commerce at Cutix PLC, and Chukwuemeka Obinwugo, founder of Ijele Tea, both of whom expressed satisfaction with the partnership’s potential to boost local enterprise.
As Onye Afia Season 2 prepares to hit screens this July, the Cutix-Afia TV collaboration promises to shine a spotlight on Igbo excellence, entrepreneurship, and innovation—challenging outdated narratives and inspiring a new generation of business leaders.
