70th Birthday: President Tinubu congratulates former Governor, Mimiko

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated the Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko on his 70th birthday.
Rejoicing with the former Governor for attaining the biblical milestone of three scores and ten, the President, in unison with family, friends, and associates, expressed gratitude to God for preserving the life of the medical doctor, fondly called Iroko.
President Tinubu in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga recalled Dr Mimiko’s activism as a student union leader and his struggle with like minds to retrieve his mandate from usurpers in 2009, a move which inspired similar struggles.
He added that the former Governor’s contributions to his state and the nation as a commissioner for health at two different times, as minister of housing, secretary to the Ondo State Government, and governor from 2009 to 2017, are deeply appreciated.
The President commended Dr Mimiko’s achievements as a political leader and trailblazer.
He said the sacrifices and leadership style of Dr Mimiko have earned him recognition as a grassroot, people-oriented leader.
The President prays that almighty God will continue to grant the former governor wisdom and good health even as he hopes Dr. Mimiko will continue to actively participate in Nigeria’s development and contribute to its prosperous future.
Dr Olusegun Rahman Mimiko was born on the 3rd of October 1954, a Nigerian medical doctor and politician who served as Governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2017.
He was also the first Governor produced by the Labour Party in 2009.
