7th Gombe Assembly re-elects Lugerewo as Speaker
Alhaji Mohammed Lugerewo, the immediate past Speaker of the 6th House of Assembly in Gombe State, has been re-elected speaker for the 7th assembly in the state.
Lugerewo, who is a member representing Akko Central under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged unopposed during the inauguration of the 7th Assembly on Wednesday in Gombe.
Alhaji Nasiru Abdulkarim of the APC, a member representing Dukku North, nominated the speaker and was seconded by Alhaji Zubeiru Ayala, representing Billiri East under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Sadam Bello of the APC, representing Funakaye North, emerged as Deputy Speaker, unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Lugerewo promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
“You have done me an honour by re-electing me unanimously. I have dedicated myself to the service of this honourable house, and I will abide by the house standing rules in all official engagements,” he said.
The Speaker, who solicited for the support of his colleagues, promised to continue to apply the principles of transparency and accountability to ensure that the record of the 7th Assembly supersedes that of the 6th Assembly.
He also thanked the Governor Inuwa Yahaya-led administration for providing the leadership that impacted positively on the lives of the common man in Gombe.
Mr Yarima Ladan-Gaule also emerged as Majority Leader, Nasir Abdulkarim, deputy majority leader, Musa Buba, Chief Whip and Adamu Sale, deputy chief whip.
Others were Zubairu Ayala, Minority Leader, Milan Yari, deputy minority leader, Yakubu Daniel, Minority Whip and Gabriel Galadima, deputy minority whip.
