President Buhari Pledges Improved Welfare To Military Personnel

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured serving and retired members of the Military that government will continue to improve on their welfare including the families of the dead.

 

President Buhari gave the commitment in a message to the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration jumat prayer held at the National Mosque Abuja.

 

Support and prayers

President Buhari who was represented by the President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan at the ceremonial prayers led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque Dr Mohammad Kabir Adam implored Nigerians not to relent in their support and prayers for the Armed Forces.

 

He said the Federal Government would continue to empower the military professionally to end insecurity in parts of the Country.

 

The Minister of Defence retired Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd) said prayer for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is in appreciation and recognition of the sacrifices made by the unknown soldiers in defending the Nation’s territorial integrity.

 

Compliment government
He implored Nigerians to compliment government’s support by rewarding the sacrifices of serving and retired soldiers as well as to remember the Families of the dead.

 

The Minister of Information, Culture and Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed implored the Media to improve on reporting the gallantry of the armed Forces who are daily paying the supreme price for the survival of the nation.

 

The commemorative Jumat prayer was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, the Chief of Naval Staff,  Vice Admiral Auwal Zubair Gambo, Inspector General of Police Usman  Alikali Baba, serving and retired military officers, Leadership of the Nigerian Paramilitary.

 

Members of the Foreign and diplomatic Communities were also in attendance.
