About 500 representatives of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s support groups across Nigeria have met in Abuja to chart a way to achieve an Osinbajo presidency in 2023.
A group, The Progressives Project, TPP hosted the delegates from across the country in Abuja.
Head of TPP’s Situation Room, Mr. Jeffrey Omoh who addressed the delegates said their strategy is to mobilise patriotic delegates rather than use money to mobilise people to achieve the groups’ aims.
He further advised the representatives to go home, study their environment more, improve their interactions with people and return with suggestions and ideas that TPP and its constituent teams could work with.
“We thank all members of the approximately 500 support groups who are already identifying with us, with firm commitment towards mobilising Nigeria towards achieving an Osinbajo Presidency in 2023,” he said.
Speaking, A delegate, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed of Kano State extraction noted that 2023 elections is not about zoning but about ensuring that Nigeria stays united, continues to achieve sustainable progress and development in all parts of the country.
“Our efforts here and the motivation for supporting Osinbajo is not about whether political power goes north or south; it is about consolidating on what has been achieved in the past towards throttling into a better future for all under a trustworthy and very capable leadership that would not need to offer huge bribes to party delegates before its emergence,” he stated.
Similarly, the leader of the Cross River State Coalition for Osinbajo 2023 group, Mr. Precious Elekia who asserted that the presidential election is about getting an individual who will appeal to all dimensions of national interest added that Professor Osinbajo fits the image.
“It is time to vote for Nigeria and not a time to vote for Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba,” he said.
Among recommendations proffered by representatives of various pro-Osinbajo support groups were implementation of mobilization efforts across various wards in 774 local government councils, focus on reaching prospective delegates to APC national convention and creation of state coordination teams across the federation.
Even though Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has not yet been elected as his party’s flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election, his supporters are already strategising to ensure he wins the ticket.
