FCTA To Commission Projects Across Satellite Towns

The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, through it Satellite Towns Development Department, STDD, said all is set for the commissioning of 13 completed projects across the six area councils of the territory.

The Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department, Comrade Obinna Francis Ogwuegbu, stated this after a tour of ongoing projects in satellite towns of the FCT.

He called on all the affected contractors to ensure their prompt completion, stating that the projects are in furtherance of the FCT Administration’s commitment of developing the satellite towns.

He said the Honorable Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has directed the department to put all things in place for the commissioning of the 13 completed projects in Abaji, Gwagalada, Bwari, Kuje, karshi and kubwa.

The Coordinator therefore directed staffs of the STDD to see all the contractors involved in all the projects for the already designed template in making sure that the commissioning will be done without further delays.

Ogwuegbu also added that the Buhari led Administration was doing a lot in providing social amenities, while assuring that the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, will continue to do her best for the development of the satellite towns.

Cleanup Exercise

Meanwhile, as a follow up on the Minister of State for FCT’s directive of keeping satellite towns clean, Ogwuegbu said the STDD has again embarked on another phrase of a cleanup exercise of the six Area Councils of the Territory.

Speaking during the exercise, the Coordinator assured that all necessary mechiniaries would be put in place for the Administration to achieve its aims and mission alongside the Mohammed Buhari – led mandates, which is committed to ensuring a safe and hygienic FCT for all residents.

Appeal to Residents

The Coordinator said he will not stop  appealing to residents, particularly those living in the suburbs, to desist from dumping refuse in drainages and by the roadsides.

He said the contractors have all resumed work on desilting of drains, dump-sites and evacuation of refuse around interchanges and roads leading in and out of the satellite towns .

Ogwuegbu who stressed that one of his missions is to maintain and retain the dignity of the satellite towns in terms of cleanness and road usages, said he would not stop insisting on the needful to be done.

He promised to do his best to ensure that the satellite towns remain clean and assured that more resources would be deployed to that effect and he said the Minister of for FCT has promised to do her best to complete some of the ongoing projects that are doing great.
