Lagos: Nigerian Army presents vehicles to Warrant Officers

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Lawrence Fejokwu has presented two Hilux vehicles to newly-promoted warrant officers in Lagos State.

Beneficiaries of the gestures include Army warrant officers Ignatious Okonkwo and John Song.

The gesture according to GOC 81 Division, is in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration which pointed out that besides remembering those that have gone, we must equally acknowledge the efforts of those still in active service.

“The welfare of those that are alive is a serious matter to the army high command and in addition to issues and so many other things that touch on the lives of those that are still in service are put in place,” he said

He mentioned that the vehicles are being provided by the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, who has taken priority in the welfare of the officers and to ensure it catered for those that are recently elevated to the rank of army warrant officers.

According to him, “Chief of Army Staff has continued to make good his promise and this is one of those noble gestures to build the spirit and boost the morale of officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Ignatious Okonkwo appreciated the gesture, which he described as laudable that will boost their morale and other prospective officers.

According to him; “This is a good gesture and it is also the tradition that when you get to such rank in the army that is conducted with examination and if you are through you get such opportunity and I so much appreciate this, I thank Nigerian Army.

“What is expected of us is to continue to remain loyal and dedicated and to provide selfless service to the nation and army and to maintain and respect the integrity of the army which is the core value of the Nigerian Army.

Other well-wishers at the occasion also lauded the initiative which would encourage patriotism, dedication and commitment to the course of protecting the territorial integrity of the country by the Army officers.
