The immediate past speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Ahmed, has thrown his weight behind the performance of his predecessor, Balarabe Abdullahi.

Former Speaker, Musa Ahmed

Ahmed, who served as speaker for eight years from 2007 to 2015 under the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) representing Nasarawa Central Constituency, commended the leadership qualities of his predecessor, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi ( APC-Umaisha/ Yagya), who is the current speaker.

The former speaker made the statement when a Reconciliation Committee visited the state assembly complex in Lafia. Ahmed, who left PDP for APC and is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Fact-Finding and Reconciliation Committee of APC in Nasarawa State, said: “I want to say, we are very proud of you over your performance and your leadership qualities as the speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

“It is not easy to manage a House of equals, a House of 23 wise men of the state, the lawmakers and the members with different characters.

” Your ability to manage the House without rancour is something to emulate. You have given the state a peaceful atmosphere in the last seven years of your leadership, Which has greatly enhanced development for the state and its people. May God Almighty see you through.

” I want to congratulate you and the 23 members for giving you the support to succeed and for your successes,” he noted.

Ahmed advised Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi to look inward ahead of the 2023 general elections by re-contesting the state assembly seat for Umaisha/ Ugya constituency to continue with his excellent work for the people of his constituency, the state and the government of Engr. Abdullahi Sule.

“I wish you could look inward, everybody thinks big and wants to grow, but my opinion and sincere advice at this moment are that I want you to come to the House to lead again. Our prayers are that by June 2023, you will be sworn in again as the speaker of our dear State, Insha Allah.

“My advice is since we are praying and supporting the re-election of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, to come for the second term, we should maintain the zoning arrangement with the governor from the North, Deputy from the South and Speaker from the west. It will give room for more success for Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration and, by extension, the people of the state considering your contributions and support,” Ahmed added.
