Nigerian Senate on Wednesday confirmed five nominees appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as commissioners of the National Population Commission, NPC.
Senate also confirmed the nomination of another four Nigerians by the President, as commissioners of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
The confirmation of all the nominees followed the consideration of two separate reports by the Committees on National Identity and National Population, chaired by Senator Sahabi Ya’u, and that of Power chaired by Senator Gabriel Suswam.
The nominees confirmed as commissioners of the National Population Commission include: Chief Engr. Benedict Ukpong Effiong from Akwa-Ibom, Mrs. Gloria Fateya Izonfo (Bayelsa), Barrister Kupchi Patricia Ori Iyanya (Benue), Dr. Haliru Bala (Kebbi), and Dr. Eyitayo Oyekunle Oyetunji from Oyo State.
The nomination of Dr. Yusuf O. Ali representing North Central is confirmed as Commissioner of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The nomination of Engr. Chidi Ike representing South East is confirmed as Commissioner of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The four nominees confirmed as commissioners of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission were Dr. Yusuf Ali from North Central, Engr. Chidi Ike (South East), Mr. Nathan Rogers Shatti (North East), and Mr. Dafe Akpeneye representing South South.
