Oyo State to ensure Prosperity via Economic Development

The government of Oyo state has assured the people of the state of its commitment to using economic development as an integral part of governance in its bid to achieve the poverty to prosperity mission.

 

The state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Musbau Babatunde, gave the hint during the stakeholders’ engagement forum spanning the last of the geo-political zones on the 20-year-plan in Akesan market Town Hall in Oyo Town.

 

Professor Musbau explained that the contents of the Oyo Agenda 2040 plan included human capital social development, infrastructure development and sustainable environment as keys to achieving the much-needed emancipated growth in the state.

 

Governor Makinde’s Special Assistant on Economic Planning, Mr Gbenga Oyekola, expatiated the importance of the programme aimed at preventing abandoned expedient projects and noted that the programme had commenced three weeks earlier to ascertain the people’s needs for improved standard of living.

 

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi, welcomed the guests to the all-inclusive programme and emphasised that the development plan would serve as subsequent framework for successive governments in Oyo State.

 

The programme which kicked-off in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, had in attendance royal fathers, religious leaders, top government functionaries, local government chairmen, traders, artisans and civil-society organisations, among others.
