Niger State: Police confirms killing of 4 Security Personnel by Gunmen

The Niger Police Command in North Central Nigeria has confirmed the killing of 4 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) and 6 other residents by alleged gunmen at Galkogo village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas, who confirmed this to the media, said that the gunmen who invaded the community in the early hours of Monday in several motorcycles, first burnt down eight houses as well as the three buildings housing the Joint Security TaskForce under renovation after the last month attack.
“The detachment of police tactical squad and the military have been deployed to the area and have lunch manhunt with a view to tracking down the criminals
“We appeal to residents to assist security personnel deployed with reliable information that could aid in apprehending miscreants.“
According to the Chairman of Shiroro local government Mallam Suleiman Chukuba, the gunmen are not Bandits but Boko Haram, going by the sophistication of the weapons and explosive devices.
“1 of the explosives was detonated in the morning, destroying a Hilux Van belonging to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) on their way to the community to ascertain the level of destruction by the gunmen
“2 officers of the NSCDC in the vehicle survived the explosion and are in critical condition, receiving treatment at a government facility in Minna, the state capital.”
