Senate schedules March 1st to vote on constitution

Nigerian senate on Tuesday confirmed that Senators will on March 1st, 2022, cast their votes on the amended constitution of the Federal Republic.

 

The Chairman of the National Assembly joint committee on the review of the constitution, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, made the confirmation as the Lawmakers reconvened in plenary for this week.

 

Senator Omo-Agege who is the Deputy President of the Nigerian senate, also confirmed that the final report of the committee will be laid on Wednesday this week & made available to all Senators ahead of the scheduled date for voting.

 

CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENTS

 

Similarly, Senate also confirmed the appointment of five Nigerians as Executive Directors of the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum regulatory Authority. They are; Francis Ogaree, Executive Director Hydrocarbon processing plants, installations & transport infrastructure. Dr. Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director Health safety environment & community.

 

Mansur Kuliya, is the Executive Director midstream & downstream gas infrastructure fund. Bashir Sadiq, Executive Director corporate services & administration. And the position of Executive Director economic regulations & strategic planning is occupied by Dr. Zainab Gobir.

 

Meanwhile a bill seeking to establish the Nigerian tea & coffee development Council passed second reading in the senate, just as the senate committee on tertiary institutions and TETFUND held a public hearing on three bills seeking to establish different institutions of higher learning.
