NDLEA launches campaign against Narcotic drugs in Ebonyi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in Ebonyi State is set to end the use of Narcotic drugs in the State, particular in Izzi/Abakaliki Federal Constituency.

The Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement office, Brigadier General Buba Marwa , represented by the Director, Directorate of Drug Demand Reduction, Mrs Ngozi Madubike disclosed this during the Pre- event Press briefing at New Heaven Hotel in Abakaliki the State Capital.

Mrs Madubike informed that NDLEA decided to partner with Journalists as one of the major Stakeholders in information dissemination against the use of Narcotic drugs in the State and Nigeria at large.

Mrs Maduabuike urged the Journalists to help in creating more awareness about the dangers of drug abuse in teenagers, youths and some  elders who make use of Narcotic drugs.

“As Major Stakeholders in this fight, we all have a role to play and we must be ready to do it at all times.

“This program of sensitising against drug abuse is not stopping today but continues till Friday 25th February, 2022 and you are partners in this move,” Madubike stated.

Also, the  NDLEA State Commandant in Ebonyi, Mr Uche Iyke, who is a Commander of Narcotic, represented by the State Deputy Commandant, Mrs Ukamaka Ekwualor  appreciated the RANDBURG Nigeria Limited and the Lawmaker representing Izzi/Abakaliki Federal Constituency, Mr Sylvester Ogbaga for finding it worthy to Sensitise the people of Izzi/Abakaliki Federal Constituency on the dangers behind drug abuse and the way forward.

Ekwualor says “NDLEA is charged with the  task of enforcing law against cultivation, processing, sales, trafficking and use of hard drugs.

“It is also empowered to investigate persons suspected to have dealings with drugs and other related matters.

“More worrisome is that one in every four drug users is a woman

“Drug use prevalence cut across all genders not limited to any age grade or group”.

She called on all Nigeria to come together to fight this  menace.
