Vice President Osinbajo Commissions Development Projects in Borno State

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has commissioned various development facilities and initiatives in Borno state as part of activities lined up for his one day official visit to the state.

 

The Vice President kicked off with the launch of the 30th edition of the Federal Government’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Clinic which allows more than 100 business owners to showcase their products for both local consumption and export.

 

He also commissioned four out of over 500 projects executed by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, which include the newly built medical doctors quarters which comprises 78 units of three bedroom apartments, 13 blocks of two-storey buildings with each block having six apartments, fully fenced, landscaped, flowered and provided with sporting facilities and playground.

The Vice President during the visit, commissioned  a shopping complex with 78 shops that were built for operators of small and medium businesses.

 

He then paid a visit to the Northeast Children Learning Centre, which is a donor-funded primary to secondary school institution, privately initiated by the Vice President in March 2017 during his 60th birthday, to provide homes, education and entrepreneurship skills to 1,500 children orphaned by insurgency across the northeast.

He also commissioned a senior secondary school named after one of Borno’s foremost personalities, late Alhaji Mai Deribe, which was fully fenced, landscaped and flowered with 30 classrooms for at least 1,200 students, three laboratories, administrative block and sporting facilities.

 

The Vice President paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Shehu of Borno, where the Shehu of Borno Alh.(Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El- Kanemi welcomed the Vice President, while Dr. Abubakar appreciated and commended the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for its support towards the restoration of lasting peace to Borno and North East sub-region.

Dr. Abubakar said, “ I’m happy to inform you, your Excellency that peace is gradually returning to Borno as all official camp within the metropolis were close and successful returned to their respective home with active engagement in the last year farming exercise”.

 

The royal father also calls for restoration of oil exploration in Chad Basin as doing so will restore livelihoods.

 

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo expressed his pleasure to be in the state and extend the greetings of President Muhammadu Buhari to the government and people of the state.

Possible to do good things
” It is always exciting to visit Borno state.  A state which proves that Nigeria can be better. I have seen a steady hand of progress right from Kashim Shettima and now Zulum proves that it is possible to do incredible things with very little. Every time I make speech, i refer to Zulum. He is committed and has shown commitment,”
he said.

 

He commended governor Zulum for the encouragement he is giving Nigerians and the political class that it is possible to do good things.

 

The Vice President arrived the Maiduguri Airforce base, with his entourage, the Ministers of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagun, Minister of state for Agriculture, Baba Shehuri, Honourable Muktar Betara chairman on appropriation house of representatives and other national assembly members.
