The Nigerian government and Republic of Korea have commenced a 13-million-dollar project expected to enhance Nigeria’s e-Government implementation system through Nigeria’s e-Government Master Plan.

The Republic of Korea through its Grant Aid Agency, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (FMCDE) are conducting a 2-week pre-kick-off survey for the project titled Project for Building Foundations Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria (2021~2026)”.

The event which is held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital will improve Nigeria’s Enterprise Architecture and Digital Technology development with a 10-year e-Government Implementation Plan.

The objective also is to improve competencies for e-Government service delivery through capacity building programs designed for policy makers and technical officers at both federal and State levels of government.

It will also enhance the quality of government digital services through the activation of the Government Service Portal www.services.gov.ng and create increased access for National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment through the establishment of additional NIN enrolment units.

The KOICA Nigeria Country Director, Mr. Sungil Son, called on both parties to redouble their commitments to achieve the set objectives of the project.

“There is need to have all commitments from the Nigerian government side fulfilled in a timely manner and their continued support in the attainment of the set objectives for the project”.

A major highlight of the survey activity is the hosting of the wrap-up meeting with project stakeholders that provides opportunity to deliver the outcome of the survey and next steps for project implementation in Nigeria.

The project kick-off ceremony signifying the commencement of project implementation activities is scheduled for May this year.
