The Campaign and Advocacy Council has solicited for the support of Gombe Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to pick Dr. Bukola Abubakar Saraki, as the flag bearer of the party in the 2023 Presidential Election.
The team, which was in Gombe, was led by the Chairman, Prof. Iyotwesse Hagher, said it was in Gombe State to sensitise, dialogue and feel the pulse of the people of Gombe State.
Prof. Hagher, said they had been going round Nigeria to garner support for Dr. Saraki, presenting his vision for Nigeria before his official declaration to join the Presidential race for 2023.
“You can see on the streets, there is so much unhappiness. Therefore, the PDP must be prepared to take over power in 2023, and to begin to rebuild Nigeria, we need somebody who will build this country and make Nigeria a great country. The mood of this nation is that we want a president, unlike anything that the APC has produced. We want a president who is available and identifies with our tears,” said Prof. Hagher.
He said Dr. Saraki passed qualities that made him fit to be the president of Nigeria, such high quality education, young, strong and belong to everyone, irrespective of religion, ethnic group or the zone he comes from.
Above all, Prof. Hagher said Dr. Saraki passed the cognate experience in governance, spacing the state and federal level, which made him the most qualified to rule Nigeria in 2023.
He said the ongoing consultations with stakeholders across the country, had become necessary so as to garner support for Dr. Saraki to emerge the preferred choice of the PDP Presidential flag bearer.
According to him, the pulse of the stakeholders in Gombe State had indicated that, come 2023, the PDP, would take back power from the APC, not just in Gombe State, but across the country.
