Sanitation: Nasarawa govt begins House-to-House monitoring

The Nasarawa state government has commenced a House to House monitoring of the monthly environmental sanitation in order to improve the well-being of residents of the state.

Chief Prosecuting Officer of the State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, made the disclosure in Lafia on Saturday while speaking with Journalists at the end of the sanitation exercise for the month of March.

He explained that due to the national convention of the All Progressives Congress taking place at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, major roads were not blocked because of travellers going for the convention and other destinations.

Mr. Mohammed narrated that there was eighty percent compliance level of the sanitation exercise but hoped for an increase in participation in the coming months.

He charged residents of the state to continue to keep their environments clean for their well-being and the overall development of the state.

“Environmental sanitation officers were divided into groups to check street to street and house to house compliance in order to ensure that residents cleaned their environments

“We were able to arrest and prosecute thirteen persons for violating the environmental sanitation laws of the state, with options of fine”, he added.
