Ramadan: NGOs offer relief items to Nigerians

As the month of Ramadan is fast approaching, a non-profit organisation, the Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home in Nigeria in collaboration with the Eta’am Food Baskets of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has commenced the distribution of one hundred and thirty eight tons of relief items to vulnerable Nigerians.

The President of the Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, Mallam Abdulrazaq Ibrahim-Salman, who was represented by the Vice President, Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Gada, during the Flag-Off ceremony in Abuja said something urgent needs to be done to curtail the increase of food items.

The Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home is a non-profit organisation, that was established in 1998 for the primary objective of giving hope to vulnerable Nigerians and west Africa and improving the social well being of all west Africans regardless of their religious or political affiliation.

We at Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home are humble to be consider as ‘implementing partner’ for the immensely impactful project which will touch the lives 13, 800 most vulnerable Nigerians. We want to acknowledge the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre for funding the this project while using this medium to reach out to other well meaning international and local organization to join hands with us in various area of humanitarians effort in other to contribute to the global drive to improve the lives of the less privileged in our society.

The Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, in his remarks said the initiative is targeted at meeting the needs of 13,800 Nigerian through the distribution of food baskets to them as the month of Ramadan is first approaching.

Over the past six years, the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre has spent more than $5 billion on 1,990 projects in 79 countries in the areas of food security, health monitoring, and emergency relief, water sanitation and hygiene education protection, emergency communication and charitable assistance among others.

According to the Ambassador, In Nigeria, the King Salman Centre has executed project at the cost of $14.6 million in the areas of food security, health  and education within the same period. It is worth it to note that within the framework to assist and initially displaced persons IDP in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman center, has distributed food and release materials in those states at the cost of $10 million between 2018 and 2021.

The Ambassador assured Nigerians that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would continue to render monetary relief and assistance whenever and wherever it is needed or necessary in Nigeria and worldwide.
