Former France international and Manchester United legend Patrice Evra visited the Lagos Oshodi Under-bridge to play chess with children from the Chess In Slums Initiative in Nigeria.
Evra shared a video of himself in the heart of Lagos in Oshodi in the company of the promoters of the Chess in the Slum organisation.
On his twitter handle, the Frenchman was all smiles as he was hailed by fans who repeatedly shouted “Evra Bus stop,” as he was known to be a fierce defender. The fans were highlighting the defensive capabilities of the French star, which saw strikers finding it difficult to get past him in his active days.

Evra, who met the street kids being taught chess with the Chess In Slums Initiative, said he was impressed with the development.
One of the organisers of the initiative, Tunde Onakoya, said he “grew up supporting Manchester United and today I go to meet one of my heroes Evra right under Oshodi Under-bridge where he got to learn chess from one of the boys.”
The Frenchman won the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United in 2008. While playing in the English Premier League with United, he also won the title on several occasions and represented France at the World Cup.
Evra going to Oshodi follows the Canadian High commissioner to Nigeria, Kevin Tokar Bridge, who in the company of eight sailors from the Royal Canadian Navy, visited the Lagos Oshodi Under-bridge project to play chess.
Before showing up in Oshodi on Saturday, Evra had dropped a hint he was making a maiden visit to Nigeria in a video on social media.
The former defender ‘s visit was to show support to kids as his bus tour reached Nigeria.
