The Governor of Taraba state, North East Nigeria, Mr Darius Ishaku says consensus being canvased by the presidential aspirants under the platform of the People’s Democratic party, PDP, is a golden initiative since PDP is known for being a family.

The Governor stated this when he visited Dr Bukola Saraki in his resident in Abuja.

Governor Ishaku said we have shown Nigerians how to rule and manage their affairs and any right thinking person should be able to support this mission.

“We only have to produce one person. Let’s walk together, hold hands and agree that this person should be our leader and then we will fall in line.

” Then, we can salvage the country, bring it back to what it should be. Nigeria is one of the most beautiful countries but we need to do more,” Governor Ishaku said

“People need to feel safe. Before one could travel  midnight from here to Lagos and Maduguri, but now even in the afternoon you cannot-That is so bad.

“We need to put our hands together and work for Nigeria by bringing first unity among ourselves and then we get the whole country united in one accord,” he said.

Responding,  Dr Bukola Saraki said they met a couple of days ago to forge a consensus as a way to bring unity to the party because the PDP is the only alternative left for Nigerians.

According to him, we all have our individual ambitions and eminently qualified to lead this country but we all can not lead the country at the same time and what is important now is to provide leadership and unity.

“Part of our plan is to meet with other aspirants, we intend to meet with the Waziri Adamawa later today.

“We have made plans to meet with the governor of Benue and we will also meet with other governors, including governors from the south and some of the elders in the country,” Dr Saraki said.

Dr Saraki said the main thing now was for PDP to come back and provide leadership and direction for the millions of Nigerians who were going through a lot.

“We will rescue them, take over the country and rebuild it. We have made ourselves committed to this project and with God’s guidance, we will come up with one person. When we do, we would like your support,” he said

Dr Saraki said the leadership the party wants to provide in 2023 was a leadership of unity where all members would play a role because, it was clear that the problem of Nigeria is not what one person can solve alone.
