Preview

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Ghana in the clash of Africa’s finest for a place at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup when both sides meet for their qualification playoff match at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

In the first leg, Nigeria were held 0-0 by Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as both sides took a cautious approach to the game. The tension associated with the matches between the West African heavyweights has never been higher, as both pride and bragging rights will be at stake.

The Super Eagles will be counting on home advantage as the roar of the fans at the stadium would spur the Eagles on, all the way to Qatar. The second leg will kick off by 06:00 pm (WAT/Nigerian time), on Tuesday.

Nigeria will be looking to earn a seventh FIFA World Cup finals appearance when they battle the Black Stars of Ghana at the Abuja Stadium.

For the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemics in 2020, the Super Eagles will be playing in front of a 60,000 capacity crowd

Eguavoen makes five changes to Nigeria’s XI to play Ghana tonight, handing full debuts for Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman & Emmanuel Dennis.

If Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen leads Nigeria to qualify for the World Cup, he will become only the third indigenous man, after the late Coach Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi (also late) to have sealed qualification to the World Cup.

Ghana

While Nigeria is dreaming of victory, the Black stars of Ghana say they are in Abuja to pull a big surprise.

Though they did not get any advantage from the first leg, Ghana can still pick the ticket to the World Cup if they can secure a score draw at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday.

However, a loss will automatically eliminate the Ghanaians

After the first leg in Ghana, the Black Stars vowed to seal victory in Abuja, saying the “inadequate” time they had to train before the game in Kumasi was responsible for their failure to beat the Super Eagles.
