The National Chairman of the governing party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has charged the party’s stakeholders in Benue state to be united to take over government in the state in 2023.
Senator Adamu gave the charge when a delegation of APC members from Benue state led by Nigeria’s Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Dr. George Akume, visited him at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

NATIONAL CHAIRMAN’S PLEDGE
Under his leadership, Senator Adamu promised that the APC National Working Committee, NWC, would do everything possible to ensure that the party takes over governance in Benue State, North-central Nigeria, in the forthcoming General Election.
Dr. Akume, one of the six aspirants who stepped down for Adamu to emerge as APC consensus National Chairman at the March 26 National Convention, said the visit congratulated Adamu on his emergence as APC national chairman.
“We are here on a solidarity visit; we came to congratulate the chairman for being elevated to the exalted position of chairman of the most extraordinary party in Africa.
“This is a party that have a membership of over 42 million Nigerians,” he said.
MINISTER ADDRESSES ISSUES OF EARLIER PARTY CRISES
Speaking on the crisis that permeated the party ahead of its National convention, especially in Benue, the Minister said they expect a prominent political party such as the APC, even at the state level, to have minor irritations here and there.
While stressing that the disagreements were not sufficiently strong to break the party’s unity in Benue, he assured the APC leadership that the division in the party’s Benue chapter would be addressed squarely.
“So we are very confident that APC Benue will come on stronger than imagined.
“We are doing very well, we have registered so many members. We have registered those who are ready to vote and therefore, Benue is ready to go,” he said.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari advised the APC leadership to return monies spent on nomination and expression of interest forms to candidates who conceded during the National Convention.
Speaking on this, Dr. Akume said he had sacrificed his money to the party.
“We are still members of this party, and nothing has distracted us from joining others to find solutions to the minor problems in the APC.
“The issue on money does not arise. I had willingly donated my own to the party, and I believe others would do the same thing,” Akume said.
According to Akume, the aspirants that stepped down for Adamu to emerge as the party’s consensus national chairman had a basic understanding to support the party’s present leadership to succeed.
