2023 Elections: NGO begins operation get your PVC

Ahead of 2023 general election in Nigeria, a Non Governmental Organization known as  ‘Better Nigeria Advocacy and Empowerment Initiative’ has flagged off voter Education sensitization campaign to galvanize awareness on voter apathy in communities.

The campaign tagged “Operation get your PVC, Vote and ensure your vote counts”, was flagged off in Jikwoyi community, a suburb of Nigeria’s Capital, Abuja.

The President, Better Nigeria Advocacy and Empowerment Initiative, Mr. Franklin Ehizuelen, urged the community members to avail themselves the opportunity of the forthcoming continue voter registration exercise to obtain their voter cards.

Mr Ehizuelen called on the voters not to sell their cards to selfish politicians but rather ensure to vote the right people into elective positions.

According to him, “Voting is your right, do not sell your votes or your cards, try and be part of the people who will decide for the future of the country through the your votes”

He said that, “the NGO is non partisan and non political and we are collaborating with INEC, the National Orientation Agency and we are going to collaborate with EFCC as well as other organizations that are into building peace and unity.”

Also speaking, a Desk officer on Voter Education Abuja Municipal Council AMAC Mrs. Obum Chinwuba, spoke on the importance of getting permanent voter card.

 

She said that, “your voter cards are your power and it is important to have it, preserve it and save it because it is a decider to better future.”

Also, ICT officer with Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in FCT, Mrs. Ani Chukwuemeka, informed Electorates that the 4th quarter of continues voter registration will commence from the Monday 11 April, urging eligible voters who did not register to do so.

She said, “the registration can also be done online, please go and register, it is free, and it’s your right”

She started that  the exercise would afford people who seeks to transfer their units the opportunity to do so with ease.

New Registratiin Centres

Mrs. Chukwuemeka also informed the community members that new registration centres have been created for easy access to cards and voting during elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had in the month of march disclosed that fresh registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration across the country has hit over 6.6 million.

The commission disclosed this in Abuja in an update on Quarter three, week nine of the CVR.
