A Human development Coach, Aisha Adaviruku has urged Muslim women to engender peace in their homes as this would translate to peace in the nation.

Adaviruku made the call on Saturday at the Women Lectures Series organised by the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society in Abuja with the theme “Making Our Homes A Haven of Peace”.

She also urged women to prioritise their well being as women often put their families first to the detriment of their well being.

As women, we must take care of our health first because you can only give from a full cup…” she admonished.

Adaviruku noted that for peace to be restored in the country, people must collectively prioritise the family unit.

The peace we talk about is in different strata and these include, peace with the self, peace with the children, peace with the spouse, peace with the environment and peace with our situations,” she explained.

Citing an example from the life of the Prophet Muhammed (saw), she said the prophet was reported to not have ever shouted or beaten any of his children or staff. So she advised women to resolve their issues and stop traumatising their children as this would havew a long-lasting effect on the children.

Religious Knowledge
While declaring the programme open, the national Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society, Imam Fuad Adeyemi charged Muslims to seek knowledge of their religion which preaches peace. He said ignorance of the true teachings of Islam is the reason for many of the ills perpetrated by Muslims.

If Muslims were to understand the true teaching of their religion, they would pursue peace at all cost and ensure that justice prevails in the society,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the chairperson of the programme Hajia Amina Zakari former National Commissioner in INEC said having an understanding of the situation around … is important to sustain peace.

She urged Nigerians to always remain calm and stay focused on their goals as this would promote peace and ensure a peaceful outcome in every sphere of life.

She recalled the barrage of criticism she received both from politicians and the media when she was appointed to head the INEC committee on collation centre when her appointment was considered to be nepotic following a false claim that she was related to the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

It was a very difficult period for me because the attacks were coming from political parties and high-ranking individuals who honestly ought to have known better. But I was able to maintain my calm because I know that the truth will always prevail. I did not allow the falsehood to distract me from the purpose of my schedule,” she stated.
