Kwara Governor gives appointees with political ambition deadline to resign

Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has asked political appointments seeking elective position in 2023 to resign from office.

 

This was contained in a statement released by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Mamman Saba Jibril.

 

According to the statement, Abdulrazaq said the recent Electoral Act 2022, signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, provides that political appointees aspiring to contest elections must resign their positions before the conduct of political party primaries.

 

The statement also stated that all resignation letters are to be submitted to the office of the Secretary to the Kwara State Government before 15th April, 2022″

 

The statement reads in part, “In line with provision of Section 84 (12) of the new Electoral Act, all Kwara State Government’s appointees seeking nominations for elective offices in the forthcoming primaries are hereby directed to resign”.

 

All resignation letters are to be submitted to the office of the Secretary to the Kwara State Government not later than 15th April, 2022″
