Police boss reiterates commitment to fighting insurgency in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police said the force will continue to do more to change the narrative of insecurity in the country.

 

The Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali made this known while in an interactive session with the media after the commissioning of the renovated zone 7 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force which is amongst the 190 Capital Projects executed since assumption of office.

 

IGP Alkali said that security challenges are still there, but the force is determined to address them and ensure that lives and properties are safeguarded in Nigeria.

 

The Police Boss revealed that ahead of the 2023 elections plans are on top gear for the training of all cadres of the Nigeria Police on how to manage Election Security and that training is necessary for all officers and men of the Force.

 

He urges officers and men to synergies with all communities they work with in order to have access to intelligence and ways to handling challenges of insecurity in the country.

 

Mr Alkali assured all the rank and files who are due for promotion from 2017, that they should expect their next promotion within 24 hours. “The rank and files are the foot soldiers of the Force, they deserve to be giving due attention and encouragement “.

 

The IGP admit that “Security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force are endangered more than any other citizen, as they are been targeted for killing in all parts of the country, therefore there is need for motivation to improve security in country”.

 

 

Earlier, the Assistant Inspector General of Police of the zone AIG Mohammed described the visit as historic and appealed to the Police Management for the approval of operational vehicles and some communication gadgets like: computers, saying that it will assist in boosting the moral of officers and men of the Force.
