Osun Governor commends Lawmaker’s constituency projects

The Governor of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday reiterated his administration’s irrevocable commitment to the development of basic education in the State.

 

He noted that his government is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that qualitative education is delivered to the students before going into higher institutions.

 

Oyetola spoke at the inauguration of Nigeria Digital Centre and block of six classrooms built in Gbongan Community High School.

 

The project was facilitated by Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, the lawmaker representing Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan at House of Representatives.

 

Governor Oyetola who commended Oluga for her effort in facilitating the projects, described her as a worthy ambassador of the party at the National Assembly.

 

He also congratulated the Olufi of Gbongan, Oba (Dr.) Atoyese Oyeniyi, Odugbemi I, and the good people of Gbongan on the worthy addition of social services to the town.

 

He said: “These two events speak to the character of Gbongan as a town whose people are patriotic, resourceful as well as service- and people-oriented. Indeed, we do not have to look far to know that Gbongan is up for a bright future, given the resolve of the old students of the school to render sustainable service to their alma mater and mentor the students of the school and the antecedent of Hon. Oluga as a worthy ambassador of this Federal Constituency and champion of women and children’s interests.

 

“Hon. Oluga has sufficiently demonstrated capacity and patriotism as the representative of Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

 

“As a government, we are proud of Hon. Oluga not only for facilitating projects for her constituents but for also executing it in each local government in the Federal Constituency in line with the equitable and qualitative facility distribution stance of our Administration.

 

“The Digital Nigeria Centre and one block of six classrooms which we are inaugurating today are significant additions to the education slant of our Development Agenda which holds education as the face and foundation of development.

 

“In this era of virtual education which is a significant feature of the new normal thrown up by the Covid-19 pandemic, Digital Nigeria Centre has moved our efforts to produce pupils who can compete with their peers globally to the next level.

 

“We are also happy to add the one block of six classrooms to the pack of renovation efforts we are undertaking to improve infrastructure and provide education for our children in a conducive environment.

 

“I thank the leadership of old students of Gbongan Community High School for their sustained interest in the development of their alma mater, and, by extension, the town and our dear State.

 

“I must also thank the old students for buying into our appeal to all stakeholders to join our administration in our resolve to provide adequate, equitable and quality education for our students”, Oyetola added.

 

At the event, Governor Oyetola was presented with the Listening Governor of Our Time Award. 

 

While receiving the award, Oyetola said “this award is for democracy and the people and residents of Osun who are not only the givers of our mandate but also the abiding supporters of our government.

 

“Let me restate that the journey to building the Osun of our dream, one that posterity will be proud of, has just begun. Let us all go back to work, work together to strengthen the foundation we built together”, he said.

 

In her welcome address, Hon. Taiwo Oluga said,

“We are here to dedicate this building to the use of humanity and to complement the effort of our governor, Adegboyega Oyetola — to ensure that students have access to qualitative education in Osun. 

 

“I’m not only doing this for one local government. I have facilitated other projects across Irewole, Isokan and Ayedaade local government areas which are under my constituency. 

 

“The projects we are commissioning today, especially the digital centre will serve students within and outside my Constituency, particularly during JAMB and WAEC examinations,” she added.

 

Oluga appreciated the leadership and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the confidence reposed in her and promised not to let them down.

 

Traditional rulers, community leaders, old students association and other dignitaries at the event commended the governor and the All Progressives Congress, APC, for giving them Hon. Oluga as their representative, saying she has been a good ambassador of the constituency.
