Omiguard, Kada win Nigerian beach Legends volleyball tourney
Omiguard Spikers and Kada Starlets emerged winners of Nigeria’s maiden edition of the Legend of the Sand volleyball tournament in the male and female categories.
Both teams walked away with a cash prize of N250,000 each after triumphing in their respective categories.
De Kings and De Prince came second and third in the male category and they were also rewarded with prize money of N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
In the female category, Hasso and Defenders emerged second and third respectively and were also rewarded with prize money of N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
Speaking at the event, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Martins Melandi, said he was highly impressed with the level of organisation and attitudes of the players that took part at the event.
“I am really impressed by the set up at the natural beach which is a very good site for this tournament and the branding is good. The site is very okay,” Melandi said.
“I must confess, I am very impressed with the organisers with the way they were able to put together the beautiful event.
“Also, we have some national players at this tournament and I am saying it is a good thing for them and for the country because they will build up the tournament coming up next month.
“I think the tournament is timely and I can say the future is great for volleyball in the country.”
The two-day event held at the Landmark Beach Oniru, Lagos was organised by Sports Management Enterprises and sponsored by Providus Bank.
