Nigerian artists to perform at international festival
British-Nigerian rapper, Little Simz and Nigerian musician Obongjayar have been selected in the Tribeca Film Festival lineups.
The festival which is slated to hold from the 8th to the 19th of June 2022, has unveiled a lineup of 150 features, documentaries and short films.
Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, better known by her stage name Little Simz, is a British rapper, singer and actress.
She won the awards for Best Album at both the Ivor Novello Awards and the NME Awards. Her fourth album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (2021) received widespread critical acclaim, with several publications deeming it the best album of 2021. It also earned her the 2022 Brit Award for Best New Artist.
Steven Umoh, known by his stage name Obongjayar, is a Nigerian musical artist based in London. The London-based afrobeat and spoken words artist creates intense sounds under the Obongyah moniker, drawing on inspiration from both his Nigerian upbringing and futuristic hip-hop and electronic influences.
Little Simz and Obongjayar collaborated
on a song ‘Point and Kill’ in the album ‘Sometimes I might be Introvert’ in 2021.
The Tribeca Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by Tribeca Productions. It takes place each spring in New York City, showcasing a diverse selection of film, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming.
