The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the main opposition party in Nigeria, has organised a meeting for its women to broaden their horizons for effective participation in politics.
Welcoming them, the party’s women leader, Professor Stella Attoe, said the meeting was necessary to leave no stone unturned and ensure that the women come to participate in politics and make meaningful contributions and win elections.
She said, “We’ve always thought about women coming to participate. We’ve been doing that over the years, but the issue now is coming out to win elections.
“This meeting is unprecedented. I deem it necessary to know our female aspirants across the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT.”
The women leader said participants would share ideas with veterans and tap from their wealth of experience.
“The meeting will enhance our approaches and methodologies as we go to the field, understand the pros and cons inherent in our political pursuits to proffer solutions to them and monitor the achievements of female aspirants and plan for the future,” Professor Attoe.
She said she believed that female aspirants would rise in high spirits towards the business ahead at the end of this exercise.
