The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWPHCDA), Ilorin , North Central Nigeria, Dr. Nusirat Elelu has joined the world in celebrating World Immunization Week and applauded the State health workers over their steadfastness in primary health care sector in the State.

Dr. Nusirat said that she was impressed with the quality of the human capital and the willingness of the state government to go an extra mile at ensuring that the state does not become a safe haven for the preventable diseases.
She reiterated the commitment of the administration of SPHCDA under the leadership of the state government has taken the difficult task of ensuring the health workers are able to control the spread of COVID-19 via the timely vaccination, measles, tetanus yellow fever, tuberculosis etcetera in the state through effective vaccination coverage.
According to her, “These are expensive and time-consuming effort, but we remain resolute in our promise to the people. Our Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is most passionate about the safety of Kwarans”, she said.
In her words: “We must sincerely commend His Excellency for being proactive in supporting immunization in the State, which can be seen from the lead taken by Kwara State in the Covid-19 vaccination in the country. These steps taken so far by the governor to curtail the spread of the disease is worthy of commendation.”
Speaking on the our routine immunisation for children under five, Dr. Nusirat said our routine vaccines are available always in all our health centres in the state.
She also implored the citizens of Kwara to cooperate with the immunization teams during campaigns to ramp up coverage by ensuring that their wards get vaccinated during any exercise.
Dr. Nusirat, also advised Kwarans that COVID-19 can be overcome through effective and safe vaccination that is already rolled out across the state with people vaccinated.
According to her, additional people will be targeted once the vaccines become available in the country.
“COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and we must continue to ensure that we follow all safety measures like washing of hands, social-distancing and other safety standards as recommended by our health professionals until we are able to attain herd immunity where majority of the population have been vaccinated” she added.
The Executive Secretary praised the health workers and the indefatigable team at the State Primary Health Care, and as well appreciated them for their front line roles in the fight against vaccine preventable diseases in the state.
