Also, your worthy campaigns against Covid-19 pandemic, Lassa fever and other diseases, mass Literacy, deserve special mention and commendation. Be rest assured that the lives you have touched and the communities you have served will never forget you.

As much as I encourage you to participate actively, let the unity and peace of the nation, fair play as well as discipline, be your watch words and guiding principles.

Worthy service

The State Coordinator of National Youths Service Corps, Mrs Mercy Bamai Dawuda, on behalf of the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, Management, and serving Corps members in Ebonyi State, congratulated all 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Corps members for the successful completion of the service year on a good note.

Your Excellency Sir, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, before you this day is a total of 989 Corps members, who have contributed their quota by way of service to their fatherland for the past one year. While in the state, the Corps members were like foot soldiers of national unity, integration and development. It is therefore my privilege to state without any fear of contradictions, that they have performed creditably well, and thus deserve the honour being given to them today.

“Their remarkable achievements in their places of Primary assignment as well as in the area of Community Development Services are eloquent testimonies to the meaningful contributions and development of Ebonyi State, in particular and the nation at large.

“However, some of the Corps members did not live up to expectation and will be punished in accordance with the NYSC bye laws. To that effect 18 Corps members, Eight males and Ten females will repeat the whole service year while 25 Corps members 13 males and 12 females will serve extension of service ranging from one to four months on half pay.

“Their offences range from abscondment from service to unauthorized journeys and other miscellaneous offences” the NYSC State Coordinator added.

Bamai strongly believes that this will serve as a deterrent to the 2021 Batch ‘B’and ‘C’ Corps members still on ground, who will learn a lesson from this.

The Chairman NYSC Governing Board in the State, Mr Charles Akpuenika, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mr Ben Okike said “Available report to me shows that they have indeed served to the best of their knowledge and ability by all their contributions to the development of Ebonyi State in particular and Nigeria at large.

“On behalf of the NYSC Governing Board, I wish to appreciate and congratulate you for leaving foot prints in the sands of time, posterity will surly remember you”.
