Delegates of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna and Niger states have endorsed the presidential ambition of a chieftain of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

According to a statement issued by Tinubu Media Office, the APC delegates in Kaduna, alongside Governor Nasir El-Rufai pledged their support for Tinubu on Thursday.

Speaking at a meeting with the delegates, Tinubu was quoted as lamenting the loss of lives, property destruction, and the burden that insecurity placed on families, communities, and the state government.

He said, “I am one of you. I identify with your challenges. With all of us working together, we will defeat all evils called banditry.”

The presidential hopeful commended El-Rufai for his visionary leadership and the giant strides recorded in the state despite the challenges faced.

He also acknowledged the infrastructural projects in Kaduna, particularly the road networks and the creation of primary health care centres.

Also speaking, the former governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, declared that the Kaduna governor was solidly behind Tinubu.

Reacting, El-Rufai asked the delegates, “Before we confirm what Senator Kashim Shettima said here, I want to confirm from our statutory delegates whether they are with Asiwaju. Are you with Asiwaju?” In response, the delegates shouted “yes” in unison.

Other dignitaries at the meeting included presidential aide, Mallam Yau Darazo, and former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The same was achieved in Niger at a meeting arranged by Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, during which Tinubu asked for support from the delegates while banking on his achievement in Lagos.

The presidential hopeful said, “I know the road to prosperity, safety, clean environment, development of our nation and infrastructure. I have done it all in Lagos.”

This is as he also pledged to conquer bandits and secure life and property if elected president in 2023.

We will not give up on banditry; we will not run away. Bandits will not take over our lands,” he said.

Referring to his private-sector background and vast knowledge of Nigeria, he said, “I’m the only one in this race. I don’t know about the others. I don’t know where others are running to. For me, I’m running to the Villa.”
