Nigerians have been advised to elect individuals with capacity, and ability to deliver on good governance and national cohesion.
Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stated this when he played host to the chairman and members of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BOT) in Abuja.
The visit comes after the PDP announced it will throw open the presidential primaries to all interested aspirants – meaning the party will no longer support or uphold zoning.
Ohuabunwa said Nigeria was blessed with human and material resources, but was yet to achieve its full potential because of poor leadership and weak institutions.
“Nigerians are tired of recycling political office holders. I am not telling you anything new,” he said.
“They are looking for fresh ideas, they are looking for people that have a track record of accomplishments, people that have the temperament to wield Nigerians into one.”
Competence
Walid Jibrin, chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of PDP, said the party will ensure only the best candidate is picked to fly the party’s presidential flag.
He said Nigerians must de-emphasis tribe or religion, because what is needed is a president with a vision to carry all citizens along.
