A Presidential Aspirant under the umbrella of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, Bala Mohammed has promised to unite Nigeria, if elected in  the 2023 General election.

Speaking with journalists after a session he had with delegates and executive members of the PDP in Gombe, Mohammed who is the Governor of Bauchi State said he would ensure that the agitations of groups would be respected and discussed amicably for the growth of the country.

“And of course this separatist movement, all these aspirations for self-actualisation, I will respect them, but I will make them see the futility of breakages. I will make them contribute even more to the centre,” Senator Mohammed said..

He said his leadership would be conversational in such a way that there would be no room for issues of mistrust and suspicion would discard when they were discussed.

Senator Mohammed said his dreams and aspirations for the betterment of Nigeria would be realised through the restructuring of Nigeria, such that the grassroots would be empowered to be very strong.

He said; “Some of these things in the exclusive List, I will delegate them to the states and local governments, because that is where the majority of Nigerians live.”

”I will improve the quality of life of Nigerians, by leaving behind legacies and landmarks for the country and for the glory of God.”

Highlighting his experience in life, the presidential aspirant said he had been taught by God, through various stages of leadership, which began from his days as a journalist, up to the level of a director at the Federal level to a Senator, Minister and now a Governor.

” All the experiences had prepared me for the position of the leadership of Nigeria because I understand the rudiments of leadership in Nigeria.

“As a bureaucrat, I will bring my experience to bear, initiate good policies and programmes. I have been tested and trusted, because I have performed at certain levels, even at the Federal level, at the sub-national and the local governments. I will bring experience, innovation and invention to bear. I will bring inclusiveness, hope to those who are disillusioned and dejected, those who have withdrawn because of nepotism and exclusion.

”I hope to bring back the glory and dignity of Nigeria, by bringing policies and programmes that will create wealth and open up the economy,” he explained.

Mohammed pledged that if God granted him victory in 2023, he would ensure that recruitment in whatever section of the economy would be based on fairness and justice.

The PDP Presidential Aspirant said he would delegate powers to the local governments and to the states, citing an example with state police, which he said had nothing to do with short-changing of any section of the country.

He said; “It has been done in the South West, the Amotekun is improving their quality of life. What has it got to do with encroachment on the power of the Federation? Nothing. In fact, it will re-enforce the structure of the Nigerian Government, because it will make life safe and secure, property safe and secure and it will not remove anything from the Nigerian Government.”

He, however, said if he failed to secure the Presidential Candidature of the PDP, he would support whoever emerged as the preferred candidate of the party.

“I have always been a democrat. I have exceeded my personal expectation of myself. I was just like you scooping for news some few years ago. So, I signify this hope just to become a permanent secretary. So, whoever that emerges, other than myself, who knows how to do it, I will bring my knowledge, my contribution to him so that he will succeed. I will support whoever emerges,” Mohammed added.

The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Gombe State,  General Abnor Kwaskwabe highlighted the achievements of Senator Mohammed in various stages of his life, saying he is qualified for the seat of Nigeria’s President

On behalf of the party in the state, General Kwaskwabe pledged to give him all the support he needed to actualise his dream in 2023.

He added that Mohammed’s visit to Gombe State had opened a new chapter in the life of the people in the Northeast, by confirming the number of people who would support him in the state during the Presidential Primaries.
