APC Primaries: Former Transportation Minister cautions against sentimental voting

Mr Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi , a Presidential aspirant on the platform of The All Progressive Congress in Nigeria has urged Nigerians to elect leaders not on regional and ethno-religious sentiments during the country’s 2023 general election.

Mr Amaechi who is from the South South part of the country, was Nigeria’s immediate former Minister for transportation.

While wooing the Niger State APC delegates, on Thursday in Minna the Niger State Capital, Chief Rotimi Amaechi , who boasted to be the most experienced presidential aspirant amongst others in tbe party due to his past political records as ” The speaker of Rivers State house of Assembly, 2 terms Governor of Rivers State , Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign Director”, said he has acquired enough skills and experience in positively carrying out the affairs of the country to a greater height.

I am a Nigerian, I am not a sectional leader, I don’t want to be known as a Yourba candidate or Hausa candidate or Igbo candidate. I want to be know as a Nigerian,” added Mr Amaechi.

The problem of Nigeria is that we moved from agrarian economy to a static economy, we do not go into manufacturing and production because Nigeria saw oil”.

Niger state Governor in North Central Nigeria, Abubakar Sani Bello while welcoming Mr Rotimi Amaechi’s campaign team to the state, commended him for his efforts at ensuring the Baro sea port in the State and a rail line to the port were awarded during his tenure as the Minister for Transportation.

The Governor said “Amaechi  has laid to rest some of the misgivings the Baro port and railway contracts had generated”..

The APC Presidential aspirant had earlier visited the Emir of Minna Alhaji Umar Farouq Bahago at his Palace to seek royal blessing and to also intimate him of the reason for his coming to Minna.

The Emir who said that the immense experience of Amaechi qualifies him to lead the nation, however said the nation indeed needs a selfless leader who is interested in the good of all.

Report shows that no fewer than 25 Presidential aspirants from across the country under the platform of the APC will contest to be the Party’s flag bearer during The APC presidential primary election on the 30th of May,2023.
