2023: Ex-Governor, Dankwambo emerges as PDP Candidate for Gombe North

The former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has emerged solely as the candidate for Gombe North Senatorial District under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
From Gombe Central Senatorial District, Mr. Abubakar Aliyu emerged as the Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defeating two other aspirants, Mr. Muhammadu Baba Aliyu and Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, with 59 votes.
Declaring the results in Kumo, the Headquarters of Akko Local Government Area, the Electoral Officer, Mr. Haruna Mamuda, declared that 66 delegates were accredited, out of which Aliyu scored 59. In contrast, Mr. Muhammadu Baba Aliyu scored three votes, while four were invalid votes.
The Electoral Officer said the peaceful nature of the election showed that the PDP in the State was united ahead of the 2023 general election.
The PDP Candidate, Aliyu, told journalists that the primaries showed that the party was united and that the victory was for the entire party.
The Gombe Central Zonal Vice Chairman of PDP, Mr. Garba Gwani, said Senator Danjuma Goje, whose name was among the list of contestants and the current Senator Representing the APC, was among the contestants but did not turn up for the primary election Kumo, thereby scoring zero votes.
From Gombe South Senatorial District, Anthony Siyako scored 59 votes to defeat Ms. Binta Bello, who polled 57 votes.
