Alhaji Muhammad Abacha has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State for the 2023 general election.
Muhammad is the son of the former Nigeria’s military Head of State, the late Sani Abacha,
Announcing the results of the election at Lugard House, which is the headquarter of PDP in the state, Returning Officer, Hajiya Amina Garba, declared Abacha as the winner of the primaries having scored 736 votes.
He defeated his closest rival, Jafar Sani-Bello, who scored 710 votes in the primary election on held on Wednesday in Kano state.
The Chairman the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Mohammed Jamu, said the primaries were legally conducted with validly-elected delegates and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, police and State Security Service operatives.
Result of the parallel gubernatorial election held by the Ambassador Aminu Wali led faction of the PDP has not been released by the group as at the time of filing in this report.
