The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, elected Chief Uchechukwu Nnaji as the party’s governorship flag bearer for the 2023 election.
Uche Nnaji, from Akpugo in Nkanu west local government area of Enugu state is a businessman.
He scored 1070 votes and emerged unopposed at the election that took place at the APC Southeast Zonal office, Enugu.
The Returning Officer,, Sheriff Jalaba while announcing the result, said 1100 delegates were accredited for the exercise, adding that 30 votes were invalid.
Speaking after the exercise, Nnaji thanked the party leadership, and lauded the conduct of the election which he described as “clean and transparent”.
Nnaji described his emergence as a “privilege to correct the wrongs of the past.
“I am capable of correcting these wrongs. I have capacity to do this.
“If they want war, we give it to them. If they want peace we give it to them. We have everything. But above all, I am bringing peace to the great and peaceful people of Enugu State”, he said.
He said he was poised to evolve programmes and policies that would change the fortunes of the state when elected as the governor in 2023.
Nnaji stated that he would deliver quality projects and programmes with greater focus on industrialisation and job creation if he emerged winner at the 2023 governorship election.
He added that education would be prioritized and social amenities especially water provision.
“It’s unfortunate that we are in a state where the poor no longer have access to portable water. But be rest assured that our government will end the perennial water scarcity” he said, urging members of the party to close ranks to work together towards achieving victory in 2023.
